Privacy
Privacy policy.
Trailmark Studios is a small, independent studio, and this website collects very little. This page explains exactly what it does and does not collect, why, and how to reach us about your information.
Overview
The short version.
This site is an informational home for the studio and its pre-launch apps and games. It has no accounts and no payments, and it sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The only personal information we collect is an email address — and only if you choose to give us one.
Who we are
Trailmark Studios is an independent studio based in Alberta, Canada, and is the organization responsible for the information described in this policy. We handle personal information in line with Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). The best way to reach us about your privacy or your data is hello@trailmarkstudios.com.
Waitlist emails
If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address so we can tell you about betas, playtests, and launches. Sign-ups are handled on our behalf by Buttondown, an independent email service. Buttondown uses double opt-in: after you sign up, it emails you to confirm before you are added to the list.
We use your address only to send occasional studio updates. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for advertising. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time. Buttondown processes this information under its own privacy policy.
When you email us
If you email hello@trailmarkstudios.com — including through the "email for updates" or per-product links on this site — we receive your address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply and to keep track of the conversation. We do not add you to any mailing list unless you ask.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand roughly how the site is used — for example, which pages are visited, where visitors arrive from, and general device and country information. It is privacy-focused and cookieless: it does not set cookies, does not follow you across other websites, and is not used to personally identify you.
Hosting and security
The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel's servers automatically process basic technical information — such as IP address and browser type — to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. This is used to operate and secure the site, not to identify you.
Embedded content
Some pages embed a Spotify player so you can preview the studio's music. When a page with an embed loads, Spotify may receive data (such as your IP address) and set its own cookies, under Spotify's privacy policy. We do not receive that information.
Where your information is processed
The independent services this site relies on — Buttondown for waitlist email, and Vercel for hosting and analytics — are based in the United States. That means the limited information involved (such as your email address, and standard technical data like IP addresses) may be processed and stored on servers in the United States and other countries, under those providers' own security and privacy commitments. If you are outside Canada, using this site or joining the waitlist means you understand your information may be handled in Canada, the United States, and wherever our providers operate.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it, and then delete it from our active list within a reasonable time. If you email us, we keep your message for as long as we need it to handle your question and for a reasonable period afterward for our records. We do not keep personal information longer than we have a reason to.
What we do not do
To be clear about what is not happening here: there are no user accounts or passwords, no payments, and no advertising or social-media tracking pixels. This site sets no cookies of its own — though embedded third-party content, such as a Spotify player, may set its own (see "Embedded content" above). We do not sell or rent personal information.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from waitlist emails at any time using the link in any message. You can also email hello@trailmarkstudios.com to ask what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, and we will do our best to help. If you are in Canada and we cannot resolve a concern, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or — because we are based in Alberta — the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta. Depending on where you live, you may also have additional rights under your local privacy laws.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Future products
As we launch apps and games — some of which may have accounts, saved data, or purchases — each will come with its own privacy terms, presented before you sign up. This policy covers only the Trailmark Studios website.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the site changes; when we do, we will revise the date below. Questions about your privacy or your data? Email hello@trailmarkstudios.com.
